MEEDAC Reach Out - Casual Pool

MEEDAC Community Reach Out, formerly known as Community Bus Patrol, seeks suitable candidates to fill several vacancies for driver positions in Geraldton.

The role of MEEDAC Reach Out staff will be to improve community safety, youth engagement and reduce community consequences of Alcohol and Other Drugs and related “at risk” behaviours.

Key Accountabilities

  • Improve client safety, wellbeing and health;
  • Assist clients to ‘change behaviours’;
  • Support positive diversionary initiatives;
  • Provide intervention services to minimise the level of client contact with police and criminal justice system;
  • Minimise the level of harm from ‘at risk’ behaviours;
  • Provide immediate street level assistance to those at risk of harm;
  • Assist in addressing youth issues in the community;
  • Provide next-day follow up support to clients by assisting in connecting with local services.

 

Skills & Experience

  • Good communication skills and ability to work with diverse individuals and groups.
  • Ability to build rapport and maintain effective relationships with clients, peers and relevant agencies from culturally diverse backgrounds.
  • Able to work with large groups of people.
  • All applicants must either hold or be willing to obtain the following certificates and licenses:
     - Working with children check
     - Police clearance
     - Driver’s license (held for 2 years minimum) with F class endorsement
     - Senior First Aid

MEEDAC will assist successful candidates in further training.

This role will involve shift work and weekend work.
