Horticulturist

Innovation Park 40km from Morawa is a Commercial Horticulture Project with a recently established climate controlled shade house and large packaging facilities.

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, reliable and motivated Horticulturist to join our team.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Continuous improvement of growing practices in planning, crop timing and yield reviews.
  • Active participation in the key leadership team.
  • QA/QC data recording and analysis.
  • Development and drive of new initiatives across the existing plantation and a strong focus on plant health, nutrition and pest management.
  • Manage and undertake machinery operation on the farm, particularly in relation to the irrigation systems.
  • To take full responsibility of the watering and ensure the crop is grown to reach or exceed target yields and quality.
  • Crop walking and scouting for pest and disease.
  • Maintain and repair all irrigation infrastructure.
  • Ensure machinery is maintained correctly.
  • Reporting, documenting and keeping records of operations and events.
  • To manage time effectively and ensure all operations are complete.
  • To be flexible to do other farm tasks as required.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Formal qualifications in Horticulture/Agriculture.
  • Experience in hydroponic systems.
  • Experience in a similar working environment.
  • Hands-on, energetic and results oriented team player.
  • Drivers license
  • Chemical usage/application certificate is essential.
  • A sound mechanical knowledge.
  • Relocation to Morawa will be required.
  • A willingness to work hard to achieve the best result for the businesses goals and objectives.

Full Time/Part Time

We are seeking expressions of interest for Case Managers to work in the following locations:

  • Wiluna
  • Laverton
  • Leonora

Case Managers will assist job seekers to gain sustainable employment by helping them overcome their vocational and non-vocational barriers to work.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Interviewing jobseekers
  • Setting employment goals and to address job seekers barriers to employment
  • Work with-in the CDP Guidelines and the Prime Minister and Cabinet
  • Effectively place job seekers into sustainable employment
  • Cold calling and reverse marketing job seekers to employers
  • Develop business relationships with local employers
  • Travel may be required to complete outreach servicing

To be successful you need to have the following skills and qualities:

  • Understanding, or ability to quickly acquire knowledge of remote labour market conditions
  • Reside, or able to travel daily to attend responsibilities in the designated region
  • Ability to engage with and support people from all walks of life to access sustainable employment
  • Experienced in employment, training or remote industry sectors (preferred)
  • Very good computer and administration skills
  • Good attention to detail
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as autonomously

MEEDAC Incorporated is seeking Work for the Dole Activities Supervisors to join and enhance the team in the following locations:

  • Leonora
  • Laverton
  • Wiluna
  • Menzies
  • Mt Margaret
  • Kookynie
  • Mulga Queen

Key Accountabilities

  • Manage and support job seeker attendance, participation and WHS needs for all Work for the Dole activities
  • Experience or knowledge in gardening, grounds maintenance and general handyperson duties or arts, crafts, design and cooking.
  • Timely and appropriate management, investigation and reporting of incidents as per relevant guidelines
  • Promotion and showcasing of Work for Dole activities as required
  • Working within contractual guidelines, quality systems and policies and procedures
  • Regular reporting as instructed
  • Manage and maintain workplace equipment to meet all OH&S standards
  • Ensure all job seekers wear appropriate PPE when attending activities
  • Hold daily pre-starts (toolbox meetings) about planned activities
  • Report to Case Managers on participation and progress of job seekers

Skills & Experience

  • Good communication skills and ability to work with diverse individuals and groups
  • Ability to build rapport and maintain effective relationships with clients, peers and relevant agencies from culturally diverse backgrounds

  • Stationary monitoring and ordering
  • Purchase orders and material requisitions
  • Answer phone

  • Liaise with clients as required
  • Assist in setting up Centrelink/My Gov accounts on computer
  • Other administration duties as required

The role is responsible for building and maintaining effective relationships with employers and candidates looking for work, with the view of securing rewarding and sustainable employment opportunities mutually beneficial to both parties.

In this challenging and varied role your accountabilities will include:

  • Business development by engaging employers through a variety of sales techniques;
  • Developing rapport with job seekers to ensure thier employment needs are fully understoond;
  • Marketing of job seekers to local employers with the goal of identifying and obtaining sustainable employment;
  • Marketing MEEDAC to the local business community to develop new relationships and employment opportunities;
